Wizards become non-aggressive (won't attack you automatically) when you achieve more than double their level. For instance, a Level 7 Dark Wizard will not attack you when you reach Level 15. A Level 20 Dark Wizard will not attack you once you reach Level 41.
Note: normal Wizards (such as at the Wizard's Tower) are not aggressive. They will never attack without provocation.
