What is a good team to go with in Pokemon platinum?

maybe you'll need an Empoleon, a fire type Pokemon, ghost type, dragon type, ground type and a Torterra.

Well a good team would be:

Torterra (For defense)

Tyranitar (For attack)

Ryhyperior (For attack)

Salamence (For attack)

Dragonite (For attack)

Garchomp (For attack)

Empoleon (For special attack)

Infernape (For speed)

Staraptor (For attack)

Houndoom (For special attack)

Altaria (For special defense)

Lucario (For special attack)

Rampardos (For attack)

Rapidash (For speed)

Milotic (For special defense)

Aerodactyl (For speed)

Weavile, frosslass and crobat are extremley fast and have quite high offensive stats.

dusknoir/dusclops and uxie are very highly defensive

a good allrounder is gyarados and heracross, so a team with either of these Pokemon can destroy most others.

Hey, I've just noticed that all the above teams are extremely useful, although, I'd like to ask whether any of the beginners could be bothered finding a feebas and evolving it or evolving a gallade etc.

I know some of these are quite weak at the start, but once evolved, they become quite powerful
