What does the flute do in Mario 3?

In Super Mario Bros. 3, the Flute will allow you to skip ahead by a few worlds, depending on which world you are on. If you are on World 1 and use it, you can only go to World 2 or World 3, but if you use it later on you can go further.

to get the magic flute in mario 3, you need to be in world one. the first thing you need to do, is go into level 3, and keep mind that you can only finish each level one time. so, you go into level 3, and near the end of the level and you will see a white platform with a koopa standing up on it. go up onto it, and kill the koopa. the you crouch on the platform for about 4 seconds. then you will see that you have fallen behind a bush. take mind, you can still be hurt by enemies if they touch you. then, if you stay behind the objects, you run to the end of the level and, you will see that you have run behind the black part of the screen. if you have done it right, it will take you into a toad room and he will make a speech about the magic flute. the, you can go and open the chest, and out pops a little flute. after you leave, you can either use the flute then, and either go to world 2 or 3, or you can wait until you get to world2, and either go to world 3, 4, or 5.
