he evolvs into garydoes edit- dumb answer. every magikarp evolves into gyarados. i find nothing particularly striking about the magikarp that the man is trying to sell to you except to waste your money. edit--It isn't a special Magikarp or anything, but it does give you access to a Magikarp a lot earlier than you would normally have access to. I find it to be a great investment instead of a "waste of money" as the person above me said. $500 for a possible Gyarados before your 2nd badge. Worth every cent(and $500 is pocket change anyway)
