NO it is not. The only PS3 80 GB model that was backward compatible was CECHE. It was the last PS3 model that was backward compatible. Even the PS3 40 GB models CECHG and CHECHH were not backward compatible. The related link for Playstation support provides details on the different models
CECHL01 is a model of PS3. in this case, the CECHL01 PS3 is a an 80 GB playstation model that was released in October of 2008. it has two USB ports, it is not backwards compatible, and it is no longer in production.
Only the ones with 4 USB ports released in August 2007 are and the other PS3 80 GB models released beginning in August 2008 are not
yes No you can not turn a PS3 into a Backwards Compatible PS2 game player. That's why the demand for older Backwards Compatible PS3 models with the 4 USB ports has increased the resale value. If you could make a Backwards Compatible PS3 Slim 250 GB why would someone pay as much for an old PS3 with an unknown history that might have been repaired many times.
Yes If you want a PS3 that is the best and cheapest buy the 20 GB model The 80 GB models do not play as many PS2 titles and the 60 GB models can cost more than a new 320 GB with the PS Move Bundle
not enough
Yes and no. Only on the ps3 60 gb, and maybe a 80 gb. All 60 gigs are backwards compatible. Only one 80 gig.

No only the first models with 4 USB ports are backwards compatible and they also vary with the first two models (20 GB & 60 GB) having greater Backward capability than the second two models (60 GB & 80 GB) which included partial software based emulation. Not all of the 80 GB models have Backward compatibility and only the one with 4 USB ports. All 60 GB models have 4 USB ports as does the 20 GB model.
the 80 gb model let's you play ps1 games. Only few 80 gb models let you play ps2 games though. if you got your 80 gb with a special bundle package i can guarentee its BC.
The 60 GB model PS3 was backward compatible and the 80 GB model was released in 2007 and twice in 2008 both 2008 releases were not backward compatible
A PS3 250 GB Slim for only $349.99 USA retail is much better for those who don't care about backwards compatibility. For those who do care about backwards compatibility and some other lost PS3 features the first PS3 60 GB is clearly the best.
Yes and No. It depends on what kind of ps3 you have. If you have the 60 gb ps3 you can play all ps2 and ps1 games on it. BUT if you have the 40,80,160 gb you CANNOT play ps2 games on them. BUT all of the 80 gb models let you play all ps1 games. Only some 80 gb models are compatible with all PS games. _______________________________________________________________________ Only the first generation PS3's are backwards compatible and have since been discontinued. I personally think this is ridiculous and have started a facebook group entitled, "All PS3 systems should be BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE!" I would greatly appreciate if anyone who is willing joins. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=555436001&ref=profile#/group.php?gid=152180619343 Thank you VERY MUCH for your support.
