You can trade as much as you need/want to. When people beg me for money, I give them 250 each, because I'm rich as heck.

Jagex, the company that made runescape decided there where to many real world item traders (aka. to many people where buying gold) and runescape was "losing money" though i don't believe that for one second the reason they took out player killing was so no one could "drop trade" by player killing thus would allow them to buy gold.
