Unless Mojang changed it back, once you kill the animal or the animal dies it doesn't re-spawn any more. You can only FIND animals they won't spawn near you. Once you have two of the same animals you can now breed them by having a certain food in your hand and right clicking on both of them.
Just do a little exploring and you should be able to find them. Some animals like the wolf and such are harder to find sometimes.
Used a mod or put grass in your house dirt doesn't work so you need to find grass surrounding that dirt you placed and then you need to wait till the dirt goes to grass. Animals only spawn near grass.

Grassland animals eat grass. the other animals that are grassland animals like cheetahs that dont eat grass eat other grassland animals like gazzelles. grassland animals also need the temperature of the grasslands. Different animals live in different biomes.
Because you don't use it by Google Chrome and others similar, you use it by the Grass Block icon on your screen (Under where it says Minecraft) when you log in OR by going to start, downloads, and using the one that says Minecraft with the same Grass Block icon at the top, plus you need every file it contains to play it.
no but the're cool YOU personally don't need a grey wolf. But the world needs all wolves, it is part of the food chain! Wolves actually help us by eating other animals, they are controlling the population. To much plant eating animals means not-so much grass.
