Number of Sims Games

There is more than one answer to this question, depending on your definitions of 'Sims' and 'games'.

If you're referring to The Sims, then there have been 3 games released so far. These are The Sims, The Sims 2, and The Sims Online, with The Sims Stories planned for 2007 and The Sims 3 planned for 2009. The Sims Online can only be played with other people over the internet, so some people may not consider it to be a game in the series in the traditional sense. However, these games have been released in various formats, and more importantly have had a number of expansion packs on sale for them.

The original The Sims game had a total of 7 expansion packs released for it. These are Livin' Large, House Party, Hot Date, Vacation, Unleashed, Superstar, and Makin' Magic.

The Sims 2 has so far had 5 expansion packs released for it, with a sixth in the pipeline. These are University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, and then Bon Voyage with a planned September 2007 release date. Similarly, The Sims 2 has also had 5 'stuff packs' released, with a sixth planned. These are Holiday Party Pack, Family Fun Stuff, Glamour Life Stuff, Happy Holiday Stuff, Celebration! Stuff, and H&M Fashion Stuff to be released in June 2007.

All of these expansions would bring the current total number of games in the 'The Sims' series to a total of 20, with more on the way.

Alternately, the question could relate to the number of games released in the 'Sim' series, of which 'The Sims' is just a part. Excluding games in the 'The Sims' series, this number would be 18. A list follows:

SimCity, SimCity 2000, SimCity 3000, SimCity 4, SimFarm, SimEarth, SimAnt, SimTown, SimPark, SimSafari, SimTunes, SimLife, SimRefinery, SimTower, SimHealth, SimCopter, SimIsle, SimGolf.

Including 'The Sims' titles, this would bring the total up to 21, or if you include the expansion packs as explained earlier, a total of 38. there are sims dj aswell and sims Bowling

Also, there are the MySims games, like: MySims Agents, MySims Lego, MySims Party and MySims Kingdom. Also, there is now the Sims 3 that's out and extremely popular. So that brings us to a total of 43 Sims Games. ( as you may have noticed, this answer has been improved from 2007 to 2009 and so it says some things are coming out when they already came out.)
