Well, it depends. For my birthday, I got both Sims 3 (base game) and Island Paradise (expansion pack). To install both the base game and that expansion pack with exclusive content, it took about 30-40 minutes. I basically could play on the same day. But, if you buy and install it directly from Origin (which I did with Pets and University Life), it might take about 5-48 hours! I know it's a big difference compared to the earlier one but it's true.

There shouldn't be a specific order, as long as you have the Sims 3 base game downloaded first then the expansion packs and stuff packs should be ok to download in any order.
Can you transfer your Sims 4 expansion packs to a new computer?
With all Sims 4 games being registered through Origin, so long as you have access to that account, you should be able to redownload your original game and expansions.

If it gets accidentally deleted, it should probably be okay because it gets installed for EVERY expansion and stuff pack you have installed, plus one for the base game. If have it installed with one or more expansion or stuff packs, you should probably use the one from the newest expansion pack or stuff pack. It goes: The Sims 2 (base game, oldest) The Sims 2 Nightlife (comes with the base game if you have Deluxe or Double Deluxe) The Sims 2 University The Sims 2 Pets The Sims 2 Seasons The Sims 2 Bon Voyage The Sims 2 Freetime The Sims 2 Apartment Life for expansion packs. I don't know what the order is for stuff packs seeing as I don't have them all yet. *Apartment Life is the newest expansion pack, but the latest add-on to The Sims 2 is The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden Stuff. If you have Mansion and Garden Stuff, use that!* It is fairly certain that there will not be any more add-ons for The Sims 2 seeing as they already have a Sims 3 and are making expansions for that. If you do not have The Sims 2 Body Shop on your computer, then you may want to un/reinstall one of the expansion/stuff packs; or, if you don't have any, The Sims 2 itself. IF YOU DO THIS, you need to create backup files so you won't lose all your progress. Go to Documents, EA games, (The most recent one) and right click on the folder "The Sims 2", then copy it and paste it some where that is not in the EA games folder. (preferably on a flash drive or something you can remove from your computer without harming the data.) Eject the flash drive (if you have one) then proceed in uninstalling. Then again, something that's been out for this long is probably downloadable from the internet.

You install Sims 2 on Vista just as you would on former Windows OSs. You need to have the original Sims2 base game or you can use one of the combo packs as long as the riginal, Sims 2 bade game is included. Just insert the 1st disk into your disc drive and it sould auto-install. From there, the installer will (should) prompt you to insert the proceeding disks. If it doesn't autoinstall, go to Start>(My) Computer and then double click on the drive that contains the disc. This should start the process.

Sims 3 is much more in depth than Sims 2. You could not go into many different lots at the same time. It was hard to play Sims 2 for a long time before you got bored without all the expansion packs. There are so many more differences, but either way, Sims 3 is a lot better
