You basically use a HD texture pack for minecraft in the same way as a normal texture pack. First off, to use a texture pack you must first download one, you can find plenty on Minecraftforum.net. After you have downloaded your texture pack, you then place the .Zip texture pack file into the "texturepacks" folder. But for a HD texture pack you must first download MCpatcher, which allows you to use HD texture packs, you can also find MCpatcher on Minecraftforum.net or you can just simply Google it, and like before, you just place your texture pack into the "texturepacks" folder. After you have done this, Run minecraft and click on the "Mods and Texture packs" option, then the texture pack you have placed in that folder will appear as an option in this page. Simply click the texture pack then click "Done". All you need to do now, is play :D.
When you downloaded the texture pack, it should be in a zip file. You have to put the .zip file into the %appdata%>.minecraft>texture packs if you are a mac user: Your Mac id>Library>application support>minecraft>texture packs. Do not use the Library in the macintosh HD Drive. Then you open up minecraft, then you go into texture packs and mods. Then choose the texture pack, then say ok, then play minecraft :)
He used the GLSL shader,Flows hd texture pack, and Modern hd texture pack.
a GLSL shader texture pack, hd that is most i know, beemo12
For HD texture packs (over 16x16 in resolution), you have to use either MCPatcher or OptiFine in order for the textures to work and animate correctly.
Mo'Creatures don't need McPatcher, but Minecraft HD does. McPatcher is actually easier to install mods and HD texture packs so "yes" to your question.
minecraft kidkraft -hope you don't get scared of this Have to have HD texture pack fix

Just like normal. If it lags, you need a better computer. There's not much you can do with the texture pack.
Try Soartex HD pack ITS GREAT ...................... DIAMONDS! :P
Currently HD texture packs are not supported my Minecraft, and therefore are bound to lag. Having a powerful computer may prevent lag from occurring due to an HD pack, but not always. To fix lag due to HD packs try making sure the only program you are running on your computer is Minecraft as HD textures tend to make Minecraft require a lot more RAM.

No but you can get HD texture packs with the help of a patcher.

There are a few reasons this could have happened. First of all, you need to make sure it is an SD texture back. (16x16) If it is any higher than this, you have an HD texture pack, and unless you patch your minecraft, there is no way you are going to use an HD texture pack. What you need to do is download a program called MC Patcher. I'll have the link on the bottom. You need to make sure you have a fresh minecraft.jar and bin. To do this you will have to delete your .minecraft folder and then run minecraft. If you want to save the levels you are working on go to/roaming/.minecraft/saves if you are on a PC. For mac it is Library/ApplicationSupport/minecraft/saves. Drag the saves onto your desktop or wherever before you delete the .minecraft and replace it after. Then open MC Patcher and click the patch button at the bottom and drag your texture pack (make sure it ends in .zip) into your texture packs folder. It should work fine if on a PC. If you are on a mac you may experience different results. I hope this worked, if it did not, i'm sorry I couldn't answer your question.

The default is 16x16, but you can use HD texture packs that can go much higher, 64x64, 128x128, 256x256... Etc
