An axe can only be broken when an Ent, a random event, occurs. An Ent is a living tree, that can be chopped, but if you chop it for too long, it will break your axe. When this happens, you can go to Bob's Axe Shop in Lumbridge, who will fix it for a certain price. As soon as you chop an Ent your axe breaks. Ent's have faces and arms so you know what they are. You can go to Bob in Lumby, or Nuloidion in the dwarven mine is you broke a pickaxe by mining a rock with steam. Edit by Engl1sh: If you are borrowing an axe from someone, however, you can not 'repair' that axe if it breaks. It will disappear from your wielded slot or your inventory, and it will either be returned to its owner immediately (if it was lent until log-out) or when your time is up (if it was lent for a certain number of hours). You must be VERY careful when borrowing an axe and an Ent appears. If it breaks, you will no longer be able to use it and it WILL disappear, and its likely that the owner will not think of highly of you and will no longer allow you to borrow it if you break it and waste his time trying to get it back from him.

There's no fun in playing it safe. Why not try something a little unhinged?
