How do you move a family from one computer to another for The Sims 2?

In theory, all you would need to do is copy all the files under My Documents/EA Games/Sims 2/ on the first computer and paste them into the same place on the other computer, provided that both computers run the same expansion and stuff packs (if any). You could do this by burning a CD or using a USB jump drive, if they are not already connected by network.
In practice, however, there is no surefire way to move families between computers. The above may work, or it may not work, as there are a series of files that are related to a single family within those folders and that's why it makes the most sense to copy the entire folder and all the files in it.
