This is a simple recipe so don't worry. You can get flint from gravel, when you destroy gravel blocks they occasionally drop flint. You also need one iron ingot, which you can get by smelting iron ore in a furnace.
When you have these two things, open your crafting box (your inventory crafting square or a workbench both work fine). And put the two diagonal to each other. If it doesn't work, try putting them the other way around.
