Depends on the area Xbox has sold more total worldwide units with 40 million mostly due to the USA sales of almost half of the 40 million. PS3 has only sold 35.7 million worldwide with USA sales of only 12 million. With the exception of the USA sales PS3 has sold more worldwide. It is safe to say that in total USA sales Xbox has sold millions more in the past 54 months than PS3 has sold in the 42 months since it's release. In spite of the current PS3 sales in the USA and worldwide being greater than the Xbox 360 the Xbox is still ahead in total consoles sold.
