When two monsters battle, both monsters must remain on the field, for Damage Calculation to occur. If a monster leaves the field before Damage Calculation, then that particular battle step ends.
If Zubaba Knight attacks a face-up defense positon monster, that monster is destroyed at the beginning of the Damage Step. The battle step ends there, no damage calculation occurs, no damage is dealt to either player, and Zubaba Knight may not declare another attack (unless if a card effect permits).

Forbidden Chalice will negate Marshamallon's 'cannot be destroyed by battle' effect. Because Forbidden Chalice changes the ATK of a monster, it can be used in the Damage Step, after Marshmallon is flipped by an attack. If you did this, you will not take the 1000 damage from Marshmallon either - his damage dealing effect activates after Damage Calculation, but will be negated.
The best deck to stop kagemaru is one that does damage to him when he use's any of the three decks.
The best character is completely based on how you play. The Orange knight is the strongest if that's what you mean. But, out of every character in the game including downloads and unlockables the presets are actually the best. The Blue Knight can freeze enemies but doesn't do much damage, so I recommend that to more adept players. The Red Knight can continuously zap enemies and does an average amount of damage, I would suggest that to new players. The Orange Knight does the highest amount of damage, so he's okay for people who have already beat the game or first time players. The Green Knight does corrosive damage (continues damaging after hit) so that would be moreover if you're used to the game.
When a monster attacks Reflect Bounder, the attacking player takes damage equal to his attacking monster's ATK. The defending player takes damage as normal. Reflect Bounder is then destroyed regardless of the damage calculation. So imagine attacking it with Blue-Eyes White Dragon, ATK 3000. The attacking player will take 3000 damage from Reflect Bounder's effect. The defending player will take 1300 damage due to his monster battling with a stronger one. Reflect Bounder will be destroyed by battle. Imagine attacking it with Sangan, ATK 1000. The attacking player will take 1000 damage from Reflect Bounder's effect, and then 700 battle damage due to attacking a stronger monster. Sangan will be destroyed by battle, and Reflect Bounder will be destroyed by its own effect.
