She screams a lot in New Moon. Sometimes because of her nightmares. Other times when she's riding the motorcycle or jumping off the cliff. She also screams "Edward" to stop him from exposing himself to the sun.

Bella Swan is upset that Edward Cullen left her in New Moon and she is trying to find a way to grieve when there is no one to talk to. When Bella and Jacob start hanging out, she starts to 'heal' but doesn't heal properly and the only person that oculd heal that wound the right way is Edward Cullen. That is why many times in New Moon that Bella comments that she has a 'hole in her chest', but it wasn't a real injury. It was the pain of the loss of Edward. In the end of New Moon, Edward comes back and her wound is healed. Though, she leaves something else wounded behind and this is Jacob. Jacob does not find a way to cope until Breaking Dawn when Bella is a vampire. Bella and Edward's daughter, Reneesmee, and Jacob nicknames her "Nessie". Reneesmee is like a little sister to Jacob, whom he imprints on. It isn't much of a falling in love thing, as it always is for the younger humans that the werewolves imprint on, but more of a brother-sisterly bond.

Bella screams because she has been having nightmares every night since Edward left. The nightmares are about being left completely alone and that is enough to make her scream.
