Booth wanted to restart the Civil War. He wrote in his diary that he thought the south would come to his aide, hide him, and also wanted the war to continue. He was wrong. Not only did southerners turn on him, not give him sanctuary, but they were as upset about the death of the president as the north was. Booth was surprised about this and wrote about his being alone, hurt, and hunted.

Which letter is likely to be worth more one written by Abraham Lincoln or one written by his assassin John Wilkes Booth?

I'll be honest, whilst I'm not completely sure, I would hazard a guess at Booth's. Lincoln wrote loads of letters, I can't imagine Booth did, and I imagine I would be sought after highly to get an insight into the mind of the criminal that shot Lincoln.

What happened too John Wilkes Booth?

After killing Lincoln, John Wilkes Booth fled Washington to his farm in the Shenandoah Valley where his wife Izola nursed him back to health. After Booth's leg healed he moved around place to place. In 1883, he found his way to India where he wrote a will to free up the money held in a US bank that was inaccessible to him. That money was deposited under Booth's stage name John Wilkes. After writing the will, he faked John Wilkes' death. After a long investigation by ex-president Ulises S. Grant, ex-General Lou Wallace and an ex-secret-service-agent by the name of Andrew Potter, they found the will to be valid and paid the money to Booth's heirs. Booth then found his way to Oklahoma where he died in 1903.Source: Lincoln, Davis, and Booth
