Peeta can look at the bright side of things, and Katniss realizes that that's what she "can't survive without," not Gale's resentment towards the Capitol.
In the epilogue of Mockingjay, Katniss explains that, even though it took "5, 10, 15 years of convincing," she and Peeta have two children, "the girl with dark hair and blue eyes, and the boy with blonde hair and dark eyes," and although it's never actually written, it's implied that they're happily married.
