The Romans played a huge role in making art and the arts what they are today. Early in the Greco-Roman times, new emerging ideas and traditions began to appear. Based in ancient thought and philosophy, a new way of looking at the world sprouted. All the ideas of yesterday became the realities of today. With the mixing and blending of the old, something new and unique was created. From advances in architecture to leaps in literature, the new era was constantly being shaped by the Roman and ancient world. Today, a lot of the arts stand grounded in ancient traditions, but have taken on new forms and meanings. No doubt, however, that the Roman world changed the face of art in the post-modern era.
