Rt 303 Blauvelt NY ( the studio was operated by Brooks Arthur & located on Route 303, but the 914 actually referred to the local telephone area code not street address...the studio's address as listed in a Country Music Who's Who guide of 1971 shows the address as being 34 Route 303, Blauvelt NY. At one time, when Janis Ian, Bruce Springsteen & Ramones recorded there in early 70's it was described as having a football field behind it, a Carvel ice cream store across the street, and the Blauvelt diner within walking distance. This site was described in some music books as being "a converted- garage studio" in a brick building and appeared to have later once become an auto-body shop/service station again by 1978. NY State company records show the 914 Sound Recording Studios INC. business entity dissolving as of 1982. The telephone number as listed in 70's issues of Billboard magazine show the phone number as 914/359-7100

Quality assurance. You want a good set of monitors so that you hear every detail in the sound that is being recorded, mixed, or mastered. For the average person out there they probably can't hear the fine aspects of the music that's being recorded. A trained professional can listen to something and point out flaws. A good pair of studio monitors is essential for mixing a record. You need to hear every detail of every sound. Some people with home studios use headphones to mix. This is a problem because almost all consumer grade headphones have distorted sounds, especially in the bass (i.e. bass boost). These will give you a sense of more bass being there, so they turn the bass down. This means when you put it on a regular speaker, the bass will be too low.
Sound perspective is the way you hear a sound. (Where you hear it coming from)
Early movies, known as silent films, did not have sound, they consisted only of moving pictures. When movies began to be made with sound, the art of the motion picture entered the sound era.
