In the books and tv show the girls are all 16-17 but when they were younger, in the books the girls were 13.......in the show the girls had to be older because the actors do not and in any way will not look like 13 year olds.
Adults 18 to 35
Family guys target audience is mostly for people who lived in the 80's. I'd say about 25-40 yrs olds. The creator (Seth McFarlane) puts a lot of pop culture jokes from the 80's. If you are to young to have lived through the 80's you may still get a lot of the jokes. I was born in 85 and there are quite a few jokes that I dont get. Even if I don't get the joke though it is still funny. Its just funnier when you totally understand. The answer that was previously here said that it was targeted for 14 year olds because it is rated TV-14. That is not at all how the rating system works, and several episodes are rated TV-M (unless maybe its a station thing... FOX is TV-14 and Adult Swim is TV-M because Adult Swim doesnt cut out the good jokes) The rating is just a guideline for parents to tell if their kids should watch something. If it is rated TV-14 then that means that it is not appropriate for kids under 14. Even though the target audience could be much older than that.
Twilight is a great movie overall. If your kids are sensitive to blood and violence, the end of the movie might be a little scary for them. There are several murders in the movie. None of the murders are shown, but they are inferred. There is a good message though; in one scene in the movie Bella and Edward begin kissing and they start to kiss very romantically then Edward pushes himself back. He prevents himself from getting out of control. There's nothing worse than you would see on tv. There is blood at the end along with a fight scene.

You can control a group of 8 year olds by watching a movie, playing games, or doing craft projects.
