The main point of Lord of the Flies is revealed by its original title, The Stranger Who Lies Within. The whole point of the book is that the beast which the boys fear is not a real creature at all. The beast is simply part of themselves, the inner darkness within which is capable of perpetrating acts of pure evil when the opportunity arises.

The moral of Lord of the Flies is that you shouldn't blame imaginary outside influences, such as gods, demons or 'beast,' for the evil in the world. You should instead be aware that the evil comes from within yourselves and should therefore be on guard against this.

The main idea of Lord of the Flies is that there is a conflict within humanity. This conflict is between the savage within and the rules of society that a person must conform to in order to be accepted.

The main theme in the "lord of the flies" is "search for hearing" from the theme, the message is that all humans have a dark side that can cause a breakdown of society's ethical standards if this dark side overcomes one's reasoning and right thinking.

Roger kills Piggy with a gigantic rock and the rest of Jack's tribe set fire to the island in order to kill Ralph. Ralph is almost killed but he runs back to the beach and he is found by a naval officer whose boat saw the smoke. All of the boys are rescued.

A plane load of boys aged from 6 tom 12 years old, with no accompanying adults, crash land on an uninhabited tropical island. They elect Ralph, a charismatic and likable boy, as their leader and he tells them that they need to build a signal fire to attract attention. The boys also plan to build shelters, gather water, hunt for pigs and generally have fun until they are rescued. However right from the start a boy called Jack, who was the head boy in a group of boys which were formally a choir, resents Ralph because he thinks that he should be the leader. The boys use the glasses belonging to Piggy, a fat boy, to light a fire on the mountain top and this gets out of control resulting in disappearance of a small boy with a birthmark on his face who had earlier mentioned seeing a snake-thing that tried to eat him. This early episode marks the beginning of the disintegration of the boys' society and aspirations almost as soon as they began. Jack and his hunters become increasingly obsessed with killing pigs while most of the other boys just swim and have fun, leaving Ralph and a few others to build the shelters. Things come to a head when Jack and his hunters who are also responsible for keeping the signal fire lit allow it to go out while they are busy hunting. The result is that a ship passes by and they fail to get rescued. There is a major falling out over this and one lens of Piggy's glasses is broken after Jack punches him. Jack also refuses to give Piggy any meat. Later a pair of twins on fire duty see the beast. It is actually the dead body of a pilot attached to a parachute. It frightens all the boys who remember the earlier tales of a snake-thing. Ralph and Jack organise a hunt to find the beast. Eventually they too see the dead body and also mistake it for a beast. Jack makes a second attempt to have himself elected as leader but fails and storms off alone. Quite quickly other boys drift off to join him, having fun hunting and being savages. Jack organises a feast of cooked meat to tempt more of the boys to join his tribe. One boy called Simon goes off alone and discovers the true nature of the beast however when he returns to the feast on the beach in the darkness he is mistaken for the beast and killed. The following day Ralph and Piggy are virtually alone as most of the other boys have joined Jack's tribe, who have made a base at Castle Rock. During the night Jack and some of his tribe attack Ralph's camp to steal Piggy's glasses, in order to light fires. Ralph, Piggy and the twins go to castle Rock to demand the return of Piggy's glasses. Piggy is killed, the twins are captured and Ralph is left alone. The following day Jack organises a hunt, intending to kill Ralph and offer his head to the beast. They light a fire in order to drive Ralph out of hiding and accidentally set the entire island on fire. The smoke attracts a nearby naval vessel and the boys are rescued.

It explains how young boys react to landing on a island and have to stay alive and wait for help (there has to be a leader . . . food . . . etc . . .).
