There is no official "nickname" for District 12 or any districts for that matter. However, within District 12, everyone calls the area of houses for the underprivileged people of District 12 "The Seam". These are where the people who struggle without enough food or money live ( the majority of the district are from the Seam). Also, people with olive skin, dark hair and dark eyes are considered to have the "Seam look". It is mentioned in the books that Prim and Katniss' mother look out of place because of their blonde hair and blue eyes, a genetic combination that is not common for people from the Seam.
Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are the tributes. Effie Trinket is their manager/organizer. Haymitch Abernathy is their mentor. Cinna is Katniss's stylist and Portia is Peeta's. Katniss's prep team is Octavia, Venia, and Flavius and we never met Peeta's prep team.
None of the twelve districts really has a nickname, except they are sometimes referred to by what they were in charge of producing. District 7 is in charge of lumber production.
