Sasuke first attempts to fight Itachi in Naruto episodes 84 and 85, where he fails miserably. He next encounters and attacks Itachi in Naruto Shippuden in episode 134, but that turns out to just be a clone/genjutsu (unsure about that). Finally, he fights Itachi in Shippuden from the end of episode 135 through 138.
