The world of J.R.R. Tolkien in which his books The Hobbitand The Lord of the Rings are set is called Arda. Middle-earth is actually a continent in Arda, but the name has been used to refer to the whole fictional world. (IIRC, the world is not given a name in the actual Hobbit book itself, since Tolkien only integrated the Hobbit into his older Middle-earth world after he has already written it.)
The 13 dwarves who journey to Erebor in The Hobbit are: Thorin, Fili, Kili, Balin, Dwalin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Oin, Gloin, Dori, Nori & Ori.
There were 13 primary dwarves named in 'The Hobbit.' Oin Gloin Balin Dwalin Fili Kili Dori Ori Nori Thorin Oakenshield Bifur Bofur Bombur There were three others mentioned by name, Thrain and Thror, Thorin's father and grandfather and Dain, his cousin. And there were at least 500 hundred others that arrive to fight in the last battle.
Uh.. Bilbo Baggins, to state the obvious. The thirteen dwarves' names are as follows: Fili, Kili, Bifer, Bofer, Bombur, Gloin, Oin, Dori, Nori, Ori, Dwalin, Balin and Thorin. And then there's Gandalf the Gray Wizard, and Smaug the Great Dragon.
