I believe Stan is actually a reflection of Eminem's imagination, as I read before he suffered alcohol problems and depression quite similar to Stan himself in the music video. Stan is not a real fan I've heard, he was just a creation but similar things have happened. I think mainly Eminem is almost writing to himself about some of his own problems minus the abuse of his wife and obsessions.
I believe that "Stan" by Eminem feat Dido is based on a true story. Stan was Eminem's biggest fan who valued Eminem over his pregnant girlfriend who he abused. Stan made many attempts in trying to contact Eminem through letters, but Eminem was so busy it took him a while to respond. Stan began to believe that Eminem didn't care about his fans and purposefully did not respond. He began to grow extremely angry (yes, he was insane) and decided to commit suicide by driving off of a bridge with his girlfriend tied up in the trunk. Eminem finally responded but it was too late. Eminem realized that the Stanley he saw in the newspaper was him.
no. Eminem is just rapping about all of the crazy fan mail that he gets however that never happened.
no eminem wrote this before proof died so now eminem never listens to this song because he thought he caused proofs death
No He did not get sued for the song "Kim" but he got sued for my "My Name Is" by his mom for $10,000,00 but she lost and Eminem only had to pay her $25,000 and also from the song "Brain Damage" both off of his "The Slim Shady LP" and was sued for $1,000,000 but the man whew sued him Deangelo Bailey lost and got nothing
Well, there is one song in my mind. It's called stan by eminem.a story about a true fan of eminem who killed his girlfriend and then suicides.must listen
Most of Eminem's songs are a true story (or so he claims).

It's a fictional story about how he was sexually abused by his stepfather. I don't think it's a real story, though, just for laughs. I don't think Eminem would lie about something like that. & why would he make a song just for laughs? Eminem is a true rapper, he raps about his life, and his song's are all true. (the ones he writes) Just saying :)
E True Hollywood Story - 1996 Eminem was released on: USA: 2003

Mr. Mathers might say many are, while many who have known Mr. Mathers since his birth might debate the claim. Perhaps it might be more accurate to say many of his songs agree with his interpretation or perception of his past.
no i didn`t people say it did but it really did not. but the idea of someone obsessing over a rapper and killing himself because he didnt have time to write back is a freaky good song. see the music video its great at the very end when shady realizes what Stan did look at the window next to him.
not all of it he makes up a lot of things in his songs up but they are still the best out there
Yeah, its based of this guy named Stan Em met when in Norway
