Kisame Hoshigaki dies in the manga, at first it seem he was killed by the Raikage and Killer Bee, however this turns out to be one of Zetsu's clones, and not the real Kisame. Kisame himself is actually hiding inside his sword, Samehada.

Later, he kills himself after being defeated by Might Guy. To prevent Akatsuki's secrets falling into Konoha's hands, he traps himself in his own Water Prison Technique, and summons three sharks which devour him.

In the manga, the real Kisame places a Water Prison Technique on himself. Then, to prevent Konoha from getting any information, he summons a shark and makes the shark eat him. After the real Kisame dies, Samehada cries for him, and Samehada is comforted by Killer Bee.
