Yes, actually it is three novels. And if you enjoy Lord of the Rings, I would highly recommend reading The Hobbit! Great book!

---- The LotR is not a trilogy and only *one* novel, which had to be split for publishing purposes. Its story is internally divided into parts called "Book I-VI".
