-Kakashi was given the sharingan by Obito Uchiha, who died by being crushed by a boulder. Obito Gave the/his sharingan (his eye) to Kakashi as a gift for becoming Jonin. Kakashi needed the eye because 5 or more minutes earlier he got scraped in the eye with a kunai knife. Obito gave Kakashi his(obito gave to kakashi his) Sharingan as a gift for becoming Jonin, AND because he was dying.
