Well it starts being different right around charge baba yagas castle, where medusa actually leads the kids there and then ends up stealing Arachne's body. Plus the manga is ongoing. There are lots of differences and the manga answers many things the Anime left unanswered, like why Soul got pissed that the little demon called him Evans.
