Izzie and Alex got married during her battle with cancer, and after her survival she left Alex after being fired from the hospital. Then she returned and tried to make amends and Alex refused. They signed divorce papers and parted ways. This was also the end of Izzie Stevens time on Grey's Anatomy.

Yes. Alex told the chief that he thought Izzie was not well enough to be working and it was to much pressure on her. Somehow but I cant remember how.. it wasn't Alex's fault but Izzie blamed him and she left him. Then just before she came back. Alex && Meredith's sister slept together (I cant remember what Meredith's sister is called) When Izzie came back Alex told her about the one night stand and he told her to leave so he couldn't hurt her feelings anymore, so she did. How does season 5 of Grey's Anatomy end?
The end of season 5 ends with the usual cliffhangers. Derek and Meredith got married on a post-it in the hospital locker room and soon find out that the guy who got ran over by a bus is actually George. Then we find that Izzie is finally getting her memory back, but when Alex is hugging her she crashes. The season ends with Izzie being resuscitated and George coding in the OR during brain surgery. We don't know if Izzie or George will live, but we have to wait for season 6 to air in order to find out.
