Why is the heat and air system only working on emergency heat?

when running the heat-pump the air blowing from the heat ducts is not hot ( it's to cold for the heat-pump). you have a main furnace and it won't turn on ( is thermostat selected for this source), ( is the power switch for main furnace on ), ( is fuse for this furnace good). If these are good (check thermostat wiring at thermostat, and transformer).

Furnace not working efficiently, would a furnace cleaning help?

I noticed last year that my furnace didn't seem to working as efficiently as before. Would hiring a furnace duct cleaning service help? Would my furnace work better afterwards, or does a cleaning only help the air quality?

A transformer does many things.

Where is the C terminal on a Goodman Furnace GMT090 that only shows R Y G?

There is probably no C terminal because on a heat only application it normally does not have to go anywhere outside the furnace, so it is hard wired to all the various components. Find the wire from the transformer that goes to the R terminal (maybe on the rear of the terminal board). The other LOW VOLTAGE (secondary) wire leaving the transformer is C and you can cut into it to do whatever it is you are doing. Be sure you are not fooling with either of the high voltage transformer (primary) inputs. If you can read a schematic look on there and it will tell you the wire colors you are looking for and where the terminations can be found.

A transformer can only the voltage of an alternating current?

A transformer can only increase or decrease the voltage of an alternating current, and it is called step-up transformer or step-down transformer accordingly.

Whats the cost difference in running a natural gas furnace compared to an electric furnace?

This is a tricky question. Some homes may not have a gas line. Some cities may not allow gas furnaces and thus only electric is possible. Check with a local heating specialist for information.

How do you plumb a water line to a coal furnace to preheat the water prior to going into a electric hot water heater?

Is the furnace a hydroponic system? If it is you only need to get a heat exchanger (As you don't want the water to your heater flowing through the furnace) and plumb it as another zone in your house. If not you need to find a device for heating water that fits your furnace. and plumb the heat exchanger to that. I believe an heat exchanger is required by code in either case.

Does the chemical makeup of food change when you cook it?

Generally speaking the answer is yes, but only 'heating up' or 'mixing' is purely physical.
