It depends on the type of policy that you have. Some cover the dwelling, its contents, other structures, liability protection for you and the insured's, some contents of premises, some personal property of others, and some have limited medical protection for visitors.

Other homeowner policies are designed for renters and therefore do not cover the dwelling.
