This is correct 

The Inferno is set up into a tightening , spiraling, downward path away from earth with a careful emphasis on degree based on Dante's sense of moral organization. There are nine circles of hell, each dealing with a specific sin. Some of the circles are further divided into rings, bolgia (ditches), or rounds, each serving as a place of punishment for more specific sins.
