Yes you can. Lead Shot is Lead Shot. I shoot all kinds of different sizes of shot out of my Mossberg and Remington Shotguns. What you do not want to do is shot a slug out of barrel made for shot. Get a rifled barrel for that.

i have a remington 870 wingmaster its my grandpas and it has 3 barrels the slug , the bird shot barrel and the muzzeloader barrel it takes a 209 primer just like the the regular muzzeloader its very interesting

To find out when your Remington 514 single shot 22 rifle was made look on the left side of the barrel near the receiver. There will be a manufacturerÕs code in that area which will indicate the month and year of production.
it should shoot 1inch or better three shot group at 100 yards. try different bullet weights.
with the wingmaster barrel you can only shoot lead, but if you change the barrel to a slugster you can shoot slugs and buckshot, they also have a barrel for steel shot to.
It says it on the barrel, otherwise if there's no riffling it's been modified or shot out, but quite unlikely.
