Yes it will chamber, but the rifle will not function properly unless you use the long discontinued & unique "1903 Winchester .22 automatic cartridge". Aquila made a special run of this obsolete ammunition about ten years ago and you can still find it on gun stores shelfs for $12-$15 a box of 50. Google it.
.22 Winchester auto cartridge is very different than the common .22 L.R.. The .22 Win. Auto cartridge has a larger rim and case diameter & won't interchange. The Aquila cartridge company (Mexico) made a special run of this oddball ammo & it is available in the U.S. from specialty shops for around $12-$15 a box of 50. Email me for cartridge measurements. I have an extra box of this ammo if interested.
The Model 1903 used a special "proprietary" cartridge called the "22 Winchester Auto". It became obselete in the late 1930s to early 1940s. I did recently here that a special run of the ammo was made, and being carried by a supplier somewhere in the eastern part of the U.S.
WMR stands for Winchester Magnum Rimfire- and is the proper name for the 22 Magnum. They are the same cartridge. The 22 WRF is the Winchester rimfire, and is a shorter, less powerful version of the 22 magnum.
What do you call your gunA Winchester 77 if a semi auto .22 rimfire, the .22 hornet cartridge will not fit and cannot be made to fit into a model 77
Your 1903 should only be used with the long discontinued "Winchester 1903 Automatic cartridge" to function properly. Aquila made a special run of this ammo about 10 years ago and can still be found on store shelfs. Sells for $12-$15 a box of 50 when you find it, or do a google search.
As in .22 WMR? That is the full name of the cartridge- the .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire- usually called the .22 magnum
