This is generally an indication of some manner of romantic interest.
Alternatively, if you two are close friends, it could be a bit of a fear of you leaving him for someone else in matters of companionship. Either way, it indicates a sort of clinginess and potentially jealousy that you may have to deal with in a romantic relationship with him.
