Same as women would like to keep in touch with an old flame. If you were with someone for years more and likely they would prefer to keep in touch. I think its not right because they should of move on a long time ago and let go already. But unfortunately its not always like that. But if it was the other way around they would have a fit over or worry a little.

You have the choice of cutting them off and gaining the upper hand or letting them "stay in touch" and being on their terms and conditions.
