I don't think anyone's done enough research on it yet to know exactly why, but this is a real thing: chronic marijuana users sometimes exhibit what doctors like to call "hyperemesis" (because "puking all over the place" doesn't sound formal enough).
One theory goes something like this:
- Marijuana gives people the "munchies".
- There's an indigenous (naturally occuring) cannabinoid system in the body that marijuana is probably "hijacking" to produce this effect.
- If you use a lot of marijuana for a long time, the natural system throttles back.
- Since your natural system is now underperforming, your digestive system goes wonky and you throw up a lot.
