Some fear love because it makes you vulnerable to being hurt by the person you love. If a person has already been in love and hurt, they will be even more fearful of love. When you love someone your guard comes down and because of your feelings for them they are able to hurt you by the things they do even if they don't intend to. Love is such a closeness, sharing, intimacy and opening of yourself to that person that it seems they have control of your total being sometimes. That in itself is kind of scary and yet it can be wonderful if there is a true love between the two people. You just have to be careful, take time to know the person (at least 6 months to a year to begin to start really knowing that person) and trust your instincts.
