People believe in Santa Clause because it is another way in being excited about Christmas. Christmas is a happy time of year and if you are not Christian and do not believe in Jesus then you should have another way of celebrating it. My guess is that Santa Clause was invented to make children feel happy and excited about Christmas and to make an imaginary person give you presents for fun and joy at a wonderful Christmas time.
