After the civil War the 13th amendment (Emancipation Proclamation) was made and abolished slavery. The south had to reconstruct their economy, as the slaves were a major part of the South's economy at the time. Do not think that the North won and said "Too Bad!", the North helped in the reconstruction as well.
because they didn't think it was right
Not all of the north thought slavery was bad and the people who were against slavery were in the north because the farms in the south needed them to tend fields and harvest cotton. Then if a slave escaped and became a northern citizen, they would obviously be against slavery.
Four of the "Northern" states permitted slavery. It was not common in the North, due to an absence of large farming operations. The South was mainly agriculture, North manufacturing- which did not use slaves that often.
Because maybe they thought that slavery was wrong and every one should have equal rights no matter the color of there skin.
They thought it was immoral and should be abolished.
He did not think slavery should be abolished, but he did not want it to spread to new states
He wanted to abolished slavery.
I think that it was abolished in oklahoma!
Most people view slavery as a bad thing, and if you do, then having it abolished is a good thing. Abolished means destroyed, put an end to. So having slavery abolished wasn't a bad thing for the African Americans, or for the people who believed that it should be abolished. Though many of the people who owned slaves might not think it was good because they would then have to do the work that their slaves used to do for them, or they would have to pay their slaves/servants.
She believed that slavery was wrong and needed to be abolished
He only abolished Albert for war people because only they heard
The Northern states abolished slavery. The Southern states had too much money invested in slaves already to go that far. Hope I helped! :)
