Why are gays treated so bad and why is being gay wrong?

First of all, being gay is not "wrong" any more than being tall is "wrong." Homosexual behavior has been observed throughout the animal kingdom. In humans, sexual orientation appears to be fixed by age six, and has some genetic components.

While some religions consider homosexual acts "sinful," most insist on separating "the sin from the sinner."

As for why gay people are treated so badly, there are several reasons.

Ignorance. Most people don't know much about homosexuality, and most of what they think they know is wrong. But it can be hard to get factual information since American culture, for example, discourages talk about sex.

Projection. Most people experience at least some homosexual feelings, even if they never act on them. (These feelings are perfectly normal, by the way!) These feelings may be so upsetting that we project them onto other people and punish them instead of ourselves.

Fear. We tend to be afraid of things we don't understand.

The need to conform. If all the people around us repeatedly say that "being gay is wrong," we come to accept that because we want to conform.

To sum it all up... Its part of nature.
