Buy a conversion kit and follow the instructions. If you can not do that give it to a qualified gunsmith to do.
No, it is not recommended to convert the breech plug on a model 700 to shoot 209 primers. It could void the warranty and may not be safe to use. It is best to use the appropriate primer specified by the manufacturer.
Yes and is very worth your while to install it...google Badger Ridge Remington 209 conversion kit. Badger Ridge has the best one, and has lots of blog pages and videos about it.
i have a remington 870 wingmaster its my grandpas and it has 3 barrels the slug , the bird shot barrel and the muzzeloader barrel it takes a 209 primer just like the the regular muzzeloader its very interesting
Just multiply 209 by any integer. The result is - by definition - a multiple of 209.
By 870 I assume you mean the Model 870 shotgun? If so, there would be no purpose for that type of conversion. Shotshell primers are of the 209 size. The 209 "conversion" is done with muzzle loaders. The idea is to replace the muzzle loader nipple (that holds the cap) with a conversion unit that uses the 209 shotshell primer to get more positive ignition of the black powder.

209 multiplied by 209 is 43,681.
Muzzle loaders always fire a bit slower than a regular cartridge rifle, but if there is a noticeable delay It is most likely one of two things, check your powder, it may be old or damp. Just because powder was just bought doesn't mean it is new, check the lot date on the can or box. It can also get damp from residue in the barrel, run a dry patch down the barrel prior to loading it. The second could be a clogged or damaged nipple check it and clean or change it out. lastly it could be as simple as week or old primers, they are susceptible to the same problems as the powder. A new tin of caps or a 209 shotgun primer conversion couldn't hurt. Hope that solves the problem
