Buy a conversion kit and follow the instructions. If you can not do that give it to a qualified gunsmith to do.

The sportsman 78 model Remington is the same as a Remington 700 adl, but i have yet to find whether to buy a short or long action stock for mine... so i would just go for a rem 700 adl stock

Yes, The P version has a HS Precision stock with an aluminum bedding block, but is an ADL system (removable floor plate). You can buy the kit for conversion from Brownell's. It might require fitting but will do the trick. Ed

Midway usa sells tons of model 700 parts. They are one of the biggest sources of general gun parts both online, and catalog sales.
Cabela's or Dixie Gun Works would be your best bet, or gunborker website.
The average retail price of this gun is around 800 dollars. You can buy a good condition used one for about 200 dollars less.

Well pretty much anywhere you can a firearm! It's new in 2008 so you might have to order it and wait or search for a online seller, but with shipping FFL charges you are probably best to buy local. They list for $800 and you should expect to pay about $700.
