this pistol was made between 1979-89. I suggest that you do a web search under "Air gun repair" and locate a shop near you that can repair the pistol.

I have seen the Daisy model 8 in local shops with price tags between $125-150 ranges. There is one local shop that made me an offer of $115 out the door. I was willing to give $100. It was made by Iver Johnson. Whom is the predecessor of the Daisy 8. Daisy bought out Iver Johnson's parts in the mid 80's and started the model 8's. The only difference between the 2 is the Iver's bolt is chrome, like the Cricket's of today. The Daisy's Is blue with a smaller bolt handle. I bought a model 8 for $75. It is in good shape with a few paint chips on the barrel. That being said, a good value for the Daisy 8 is around $100-125 depending on the shape. In excellent condition could bring as much as $150 maybe more if you have the original box and manual. ,Grasshopper
please state the model number and the condition of the rifle. Is this a 22 rim-fire or air rifle?

Only if the steel bolt has been magnetised, or is the core of an electromagnet.
A bolt is typically a stronger electromagnet than a nail because of its iron content and shape that allows for better magnetic alignment. The increased surface area and mass of a bolt result in stronger magnetic properties compared to a nail.
No
You don't. If you want to figure out the model include a good description including the caliber and type. Pump, Bolt, Lever (yeah there is 1 ;) I'm assuming a rifle but of course as much information you can determine about the pistol or revolver.
The model is A-Bolt type II or "A Bolt II" It was made in 2000
