This rifle was manufactured by Mossberg. It is the same rifle as the Mossberg model 50. Although there may be a slight difference in the sights available on the two models, mechanically they are the same gun.
Manufactured for Montgomery Wards, this is a Mossberg Model 46B. The 46B was made from 1938-1946. Most date from before 1942 (WW 2, Mossberg was making training rifles for US Navy). The 46B is an excellent rifle.
According to the "Blue Book of Gun Values" the Mossberg 142A was manufactured 1949 - 1957.
The Western field model M820B was made by Mossberg for Montgomery Wards.The Mossberg model 340 is the same firearm that you have.these were made between the years 1958-1980 by Mossberg.
It was manufactured by Mossberg. It is probably the model 353, and parts can be ordered atwww.havlinsales.com. The reason I am not certain is that there does not appear to be a written list for this cross reference.
