Well let's get something straight you don't pierce your own lip. You leave that to a professional body piercer to do in a licensed and inspected facility. There is way too much that can go wrong when you try to do piercings yourself, you haven't got the equipment, or the knowledge to do a piercing correctly. Besides that if you screw up (and you will screw up) you leave a mess that a professional body piercer may not want to deal with. Think about it.
improved: actuallyyy ... you may OR may not screw up. my friend pierced her own lip, she did a monroe. it turned out great. she didnt use a clamp and she did it with a giant safety pin AND she used an earring to seal it . so no its not a must.
-Mouthwash with alcohol -peroxide -alcohol -Don't put chapstick/lip balm around the actual piercing. You can use it just not on it.
you should use a stud
Generally the size is 18g~16g for female lip piercing, this depends on the jewellery type and style desired. 16g~14g for male lip piercing, this can again vary depending on the style and design of the jewellery.
Can I use Orajel before I get snakebite piercings?

you can use coco butter
Go see a professional body piercer, don't screw around with your piercing if you have no clue as to what you are doing.
Just get a long lip stud. The piercer should've put that in to begin with.
Generally a 14g for a male your lip/labret, and 16g for a female lip/labret or monroe, madonna, medusa piercing.
You should not self-pierce your lip as it requires proper technique, proper equipment, and also you need to keep everything sanitary. But if you have already done this by yourself then I would say that you can use ice because using ice is considered the best method for healing lip piercing. You can place an ice pack directly on the swollen area for some time and repeat this for a couple of times to get rid of the swelling. If you are facing any kind of major issue then you must consult a professional without wasting any time.
Why would you want to dry it out? It'll just get itchy and uncomfortable.
Yes You Can Use An Earring As A Lip Piercing. You cant Use An Earring For A lip Ring Though. Just use An Earring Stud. I Pierced My Own Lip With An Earring, and I Know Tons Of People That Use An Earring Studd. Just Make Sure The Earring Is Cleann.
