It sounds like the term "boyfriend" is a little early, if you haven't dated him yet. This might be the date where you find out if you are compatible. But, if he is like you say, a boyfriend, you have to see where the date goes. If you are real comfortable, you'll probably sit close, where ever you are, unless you're standing up, then you would probably hold hands. I'm sure there have been first dates where people have gotten married down the line, so don't hold back if you like each other or you feel like you can bond.
