Don"t know but probably some advertising-supply prop firm did the trick. electrification of Yule lights was somewhat tardy- as low-heat and hence low-output bulbs and sockets had to be specially made. Con Ed managed the feat around I seem to recall reading l905. generally series lighting is used- if one goes out- so do all and this prevents some fire hazards inherent in mounting light bulbs in trees. It should be noted electric lighting was up and running since l879 ( founding of what is now Con Ed- then Edison lamp works) but electrified Yule lighting had a good time to wait and develop. In l895 110 volts was standardized for lighting circuits.

The first artificial Christmas trees were developed in the 19th century in Germany using goose feathers that were dyed green. Goose feathers were used as a response to the deforestation occurring in Germany at the time.
